Upon leaving BDC, most students fall into one of the three following options.
Option 1 – Employment
Upon graduation students who have not already secured a job will have the opportunity to leave us with a showreel, highlighting and showcasing their personal talents, up to date CV, and possibly an agent, enabling them to gain further auditions and thus secure employment that suits their own personal ambition.
Option 2 – Further training
Should students feel they would like to pursue further training, BDC help students research and audition for courses that suit their future career ambitions. Past students have been successful in gaining places at leading arts institutes both nationally and internationally.
Option 3 – Higher and further education
Following their training at BDC, it is possible that students decide that they may prefer a career behind the lights as opposed to in front of them. Should this be the case, BDC help students through this transition, looking together with a member of staff at possible courses on offer – aiding students through the whole process from application to interview.
It is important to BDC that students are helped and still directed following their graduation, as they take their first steps in the industry, helping them into employment that best suits their own personal ambition. All students are signed with a talent agency upon starting at BDC, the agent will then keep a close eye on progress throughout training and if appropriate continue to represent students post BDC as they become professional performers.
Students are not offered a place at BDC unless staff believe, at the time of the audition, that they have the potential to work within the industry – however this is dependent on progress made throughout the course. In some cases it is appropriate that students may wish to progress on to further education, this decision is made together with parents and students who are then supported by BDC as they make their next step.
